Holiday Craze and Updates!!!!

I am so sorry for being so absent; the holiday’s really caught up with me.
I know I talked about the release of a new book; “Gypsy’s Meadow” which I was hoping would be ready for a Christmas Release. I have learned that all good things come to those who wait. This book is going towards such a wonderful cause, we want to make sure every detail is nothing but perfect. So after considering a few mild changes, we missed the deadline for a Christmas Release.
No worries, we have a wonderful release date picked out for this book for Valentine’s Day 2012. This book is based on love, and we feel as though it would be a better date to release our cherished children’s picture book. Madison and I are very excited to share this story and are eager to help the other horses out there in finding their love.
I am in hopes that no one is disappointed, whereas this story is worth the wait. Andrea Barstow, founder of First Light Equine shelter in Perry, Maine has done an amazing job in taking in horses and helping them find their love. The equine shelter is filled with many stories, and many more to come. If you would like to view some information about the Equine shelter, you can do so on http://www.firstlightfarm.org/
There are many horses out there hoping for a voice, we are in hopes that we can help though Gypsy and Bambi’s life to grow a voice for many horses in the future.
I will be sure to update everyone throughout the process, as well as my other writing ventures.

Happy Reading,
J.T.Brown

Third: of all, and saving the best for last.
Where do I begin?
Years ago, when I lost my equine “Gypsy”, I wrote down my thoughts into a children’s book helping me with my grief. I put it aside, in plans on retrieving it when I was emotionally ready.
Sadly, my daughter lost her biggest love “Bambi” through a tough battle of founder. It was extremely hard for me to watch her grieve, so I grabbed my story and shared it with her in hopes that it would help her grief and look at it in a whole different way.
I wanted her to recognize that we were lucky to have Bambi in our lives and for her to feel good about letting her go, knowing that she never went one day without her love.
My daughter read my story, as tears filled her eyes.
“Mom, you have felt that same as me.” She told me with a small smile.
I gave her a hug, knowing that time would heal.
Shortly after, we visited an amazing equine shelter called “First Light Farm Equine Shelter. I thought this would be the best way to tell her the story of other horse’s lives, and to let her know that it is our mission on giving the best life while they are here.
Andrea Barstow, owner of the farm has created a wonderful treasure in Downeast, Maine. She has opened her unselfish heart up to many equines out there that are just plainly looking for protection and a home.
Her daughter had given us a tour through the farm, introducing us to the horses and shared their stories with us. Many touched my heart, and reminded me of “My Gypsy” life. The one that stuck out to us the most was a tiny little donkey, he was so sweet, and I couldn’t image anyone not loving him day in and day out. He melted my heart; I even shed a tear, as I tried to hide it from my daughter and Andrea’s daughter. He is such a sweet little creature; you just want to give him, the biggest kisses.
I could see my daughter change as we walked through the farm; she listened to a horse’s story, which made her feel as though she was what Bambi needed.
On the way home, I was thinking about the “Gypsy Meadow” book, and surprisingly my daughter was as well.
“Mom, we should finish the book and donate it to the farm, so we can help the horses.”
My heart melted to hear my eight year old daughter suggest such a wonderful thought.
Of course, I jumped on board, finishing the book. I could not wait to tell Andrea, about our latest endeavors. Knowing, that the book’s content fit the farm perfectly. I emailed her, telling her that Madison and I would like to finish the book and publish it to help the farm. She was very excited.
I did not realize how much the story had affected me, until I had read it through after finishing the rough copy. I used a box of tissues, but it felt so good to put Gypsy and Bambi’s memories in the hopes of helping other horses.
The thoughts of horses, going through the life Gypsy went through in her past made it clear to me that this was the right thing to do.
Sharing this story is tough for both Madison and I, but we know that it is going in the right home.
I just hope that this story reaches many people and opens their eyes to what happens when we are not looking. Our equine friends always have a story to tell, it is up to us to make their story heard.
If this book would help just one horse, rescued, and finding a loving home, than we have done our job. It is tough for a horse lover to learn about kill pens, slaughter, auctions, and abused horses. What if this story just saved a few? What a difference that would make.
I chose to use my voice and protect a life that is deserved to be loved.
I hope many others feel the same way……..
I will warn you, the story is heartbreaking, but it truly tells a story of reality and how one person can make a difference.
I am so truly proud of my daughter, for having a large heart, and taking notice of what happens around us.

So below I am sharing the cover and back cover.
Look for “Gypsy’s Meadow” on kindle and nook this weekend.
Following paperback in the next two weeks.
A perfect gift for a horse lover!

A horse stands at the corner of the fence as she tells a tale. She shares the stories from her past. The stories of heartbreak, disappointment, and the feeling of finally finding love within her life.
She remembered when her life wasn’t as easy as, she struggled to be recognized for who she was. She remembers when a little girl opened her heart and opened up a whole new way of living.
She chose her new life, and wants to share it with you; hoping for other horses out there in need, will have a chance to live with love.
“Gypsy’s Meadow” is a touching story which tells a tale of many horses out there that are just plainly looking for a good home.
The purpose and mission of this book, is to raise funds for “First Light Farm Equine Shelter”; so other horses can share their “Remember When” and not “Maybe could be.”
“Every step we take could be another hoof print left in our hearts.”

Happy Reading,

J.T. Brown
